Irregular adverbs — no -mente — Bueno and malo don't follow the -mente pattern. Their adverb forms are bien (well) and mal (badly/poorly): Canta bien. Conduce mal. Never say buenamente to mean "well" — it doesn't carry that meaning.
📐
Adjective or adverb after linking verbs — After ser, estar, parecer, sentirse, quedarse use an adjective, never an adverb: Se quedó callado (not calladamente). The adjective describes the subject's state, so it must agree: Se quedaron callados.
❓
When both forms look the same — Some adjectives double as adverbs with no change: hablar alto/claro/fuerte/rápido. These informal adverb uses are very common in speech. In writing or formal contexts, prefer altamente, claramente, fuertemente, rápidamente.
