Decir que + indicative vs subjunctiveDecir que has two different constructions: with the indicative, it reports what someone said (Dice que viene — He says he's coming); with the subjunctive, it tells someone what to do (Le digo que venga — I'm telling him to come). The difference is between reporting and commanding.
💡
Tú command of decir — The irregular tú command of decir is di (not dices): Di la verdad. Dime lo que pasó. It's one of the 8 irregular tú commands (di, haz, pon, sal, sé, ten, ven, ve). Compound verbs follow the same pattern: predecir → predice (most compounds have regular commands).
