High-frequency verbsjugar (to play), tener (to have), venir (to come), ir (to go), querer (to want/love), escuchar (to listen), sonreír (to smile), vender (to sell), intentar (to try), comprar (to buy). These ten are among the most used verbs in all of Spanish.

Tener, venir, ir — the most irregularTener → tengo (yo), then regular. Venir → vengo (yo), also stem-changing: vienes, viene. Ir is completely irregular: voy, vas, va, vamos, van. Querer → quiero (e→ie stem-change). Ir a + infinitive is the most common way to talk about the near future: Voy a comprar pan (I'm going to buy bread).

These verbs in action¿Quieres venir conmigo? (Do you want to come with me?). Tengo muchas ganas de ir (I really want to go). Intenté venderlo pero nadie quiso comprarlo (I tried to sell it but nobody wanted to buy it). Sonríe más (Smile more). ¿Escuchas música mientras estudias? (Do you listen to music while studying?).
