School vocabulary variationsEl pizarrón (Latin America) = la pizarra (Spain) — both mean blackboard/whiteboard. La pluma (pen — Latin America/Mexico) = el bolígrafo / el boli (Spain). La cancha (sports court or playing field — Latin America) = la pista (Spain). El lápiz drops its accent in the plural: los lápices (irregular plural, -z → -ces).
