Practise Spanish vocabulary for describing people — physical appearance and personality. Fill in the correct adjective for each sentence. Elementary level.

Physical appearance adjectivesalto/a (tall), bajo/a (short), flaco/a (thin), gordo/a (fat), rubio/a (blond), hermoso/a (beautiful). All follow regular -o/-a agreement: una chica alta (a tall girl), un chico rubio (a blond boy). These are the first adjectives needed to describe someone's looks.

Ser for permanent characteristics — Use ser for what someone is like by nature: Es muy serio (He's very serious), Son divertidos (They're fun). Listo (clever) vs. tonto (silly) both use ser for character. But watch out: estar listo means 'to be ready' — a completely different meaning.

Describing people in conversation¿Cómo es tu hermana? (What's your sister like?) → Es alta, rubia y muy divertida (She's tall, blond and very fun). Mi profesor es serio pero muy listo (My teacher is serious but very clever). ¡No seas tonto! (Don't be silly!). Es la persona más hermosa que conozco (She's the most beautiful person I know).
