Days and months — no capitals in Spanish — Days: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo. Months: enero, febrero, marzo, abril, mayo, junio, julio, agosto, septiembre, octubre, noviembre, diciembre. Unlike English, neither days nor months are capitalised in Spanish.

Using them in sentences — Days use the definite article: el lunes (on Monday). For habitual actions, use the plural: Los lunes voy al gimnasio (On Mondays I go to the gym). Months don't take an article: En enero hace mucho frío. Dates: el 15 de mayo (the 15th of May). ¿Qué día es hoy? / ¿Cuál es la fecha?.

Practical expressions — Hoy es miércoles (Today is Wednesday). Mi cumpleaños es el 3 de julio (My birthday is July 3rd). Trabajo de lunes a viernes (I work Monday to Friday). Las clases empiezan en septiembre (Classes start in September). ¿Qué hacemos el fin de semana? (What shall we do at the weekend?).
