📌
Gender agreement with nationalities — Nationalities work like adjectives: mexicano/mexicana, francés/francesa, inglés/inglesa, chino/china. Those ending in -e or certain consonants are the same for both genders: canadiense, marroquí, iraní. No capital letters in Spanish — es un escritor francés.
🔧
Using ser — never estar — Nationality always uses ser: Ella es española (She is Spanish). And drop the article after ser with nationalities used as nouns: Soy mexicano, not Soy un mexicano. With a modifier though: Soy un mexicano orgulloso (I'm a proud Mexican) — the article returns.

Practical nationality phrases — ¿De dónde eres? (Where are you from?). Soy de Brasil or Soy brasileño/a. ¿Cuál es tu nacionalidad? (What's your nationality?). Tiene doble nacionalidad (He has dual citizenship). Habla con acento italiano (He speaks with an Italian accent).
