📌
Gender forms of professions — Most occupations change ending: el médico / la médica, el abogado / la abogada, el cocinero / la cocinera. But el/la dentista and el/la estudiante stay the same — only the article changes, making them easy to remember.
🔧
Key irregular: actrizel actor → la actriz — an irregular feminine form. Similarly el traductor → la traductora. When stating your profession after ser, drop the article: Soy médico, not Soy un médico. The article returns when you add a modifier: Es un abogado brillante.
💬
Talking about work and study¿En qué trabajas? (What do you do?). Quiero ser abogado (I want to be a lawyer). Trabaja como bombero (He works as a firefighter). Estudio para ser médico (I'm studying to become a doctor). El granjero trabaja desde el amanecer (The farmer works from dawn).
