12 irregular future stems — Twelve common verbs form their future stem by modifying the infinitive: tener → tendr-, poner → pondr-, venir → vendr-, salir → saldr-, valer → valdr-, poder → podr-, saber → sabr-, querer → querr-, caber → cabr-, haber → habr-, decir → dir-, hacer → har-.

Same endings as regular verbs — Irregular future verbs use exactly the same endings as regular ones: -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -éis, -án. So once you know the irregular stem, just add the regular endings: tendré, tendrás, tendrá… The irregularity is only in the stem, not the endings.

Compound verbs inherit the same irregularity — Verbs built on an irregular stem inherit the same future irregularity: poner → pondr- → componer → compondr-, proponer → proprondr-. tener → tendr- → mantener → mantendr-, obtener → obtendr-. Learning the base irregular future stem gives you the compound verbs for free.
