📚 Quick grammar review
📌
Negative commands use the present subjunctive — All negative commands in Spanish — for any person — use the present subjunctive form. For reflexive verbs in negative tú commands: No te levantes, no te sientes, no te vayas. The reflexive pronoun goes before the verb in all negative commands.
🔧
Reflexive pronoun placement: before vs after — The reflexive pronoun position changes completely depending on whether the command is affirmative or negative. Affirmative — attached to the end: Levántate. Negative — before the verb: No te levantes. This is a hard rule with no exceptions.
💡
Accent marks in affirmative reflexive commands — When the reflexive pronoun attaches to an affirmative command, a written accent is usually added to preserve the original stress: levanta + te → levántate; sienta + te → siéntate; baña + te → báñate. Count back from the end: if stress falls on the third syllable or earlier, write the accent.
