Commands (Informal, TÚ, negative) 1

Free Spanish exercise on negative tú commands using the present subjunctive. Elementary–intermediate level.
📚 Quick grammar review
🚫
Negative tú commands use the subjunctive — Negative tú commands are formed with the 2nd-person singular present subjunctive: no hables, no comas, no abras. This is different from the affirmative form (habla, come, abre). The subjunctive stem-change rules and irregular stems all apply: no duermas, no pidas, no vayas.
🔧
Pronoun placement in negative tú commands — In negative commands, all object and reflexive pronouns go before the verb: No me llames, no lo hagas, no te preocupes. This is the opposite of affirmative commands, where pronouns attach to the end. Mixing this up is one of the most common mistakes at this level.
💡
Ser and ir in negative tú commands — Two verbs have irregular present subjunctive forms that are worth noting: ser → seas (no seas tan serio) and ir → vayas (no vayas ahí). Their affirmative forms (sé, ve) are completely different, which makes the contrast sharp enough to learn as a pair.
