Relative superlative — el/la más + adjective + de — The relative superlative uses: el/la/los/las + más/menos + adjective + de: Es el estudiante más inteligente de la clase. Es la ciudad más bonita de España. Note that Spanish uses de (not en) after the superlative: el mejor hotel de la ciudad (not en la ciudad).

Irregular superlative forms — Four adjectives have irregular superlative forms that must be used instead of más + adjective: bueno → el mejor, malo → el peor, grande → el mayor, pequeño → el menor. Mayor and menor are used for age and importance; más grande/más pequeño is used for physical size.

The article agrees with the noun — The article in the superlative construction agrees with the noun it relates to: el libro más interesante, la película más larga, los chicos más ruidosos, las canciones más populares. When the superlative comes right after a noun that already has an article, the article is not repeated: Es la ciudad más bonita.
