More practice choosing between definite and indefinite articles. Intermediate-level sentences with article omission.
📚 Quick grammar review
📌
Zero article — when to use neither — Spanish drops the article in several situations: after ser with unmodified professions (Es médico), after sin (sin dinero), with uncountable nouns in some contexts (Bebo agua), and in many set expressions (tener hambre, ir en coche). Adding an adjective usually brings an article back.
🔧
Definite article with days and dates — Days of the week take the definite article except after ser: Hoy es lunes (no article) but El partido es el lunes (the article marks a specific day). For recurring events use the plural: Los lunes tengo clase (On Mondays I have class).
💡
Languages and subjects — article optional — With languages, the article is used after hablar in some dialects but often omitted: Habla español or Habla el español. After estudiar, saber, aprender, the article is almost always dropped: Estudio francés. Sabe inglés.
