📌
Watch out for false opposites — Simpático (friendly, likeable) does not have insimpático as its opposite — the correct word is antipático (unfriendly). Similarly tranquilo (calm) → inquieto (restless/anxious), not intranquilo which is rarely used.
📐
Context changes which opposite is right — Some adjectives have more than one opposite depending on context: frío (cold) can be opposed by caliente (hot) or cálido (warm). Oscuro (dark) → claro (light/clear) or luminoso (bright/luminous). Choose based on what's being described.
💡
Using opposites with estar and ser — Remember that some adjectives change meaning depending on whether they follow ser or estar. The opposite might also shift: ser aburrido (to be boring) ↔ ser entretenido; estar aburrido (to be bored) ↔ estar entretenido.
